I named this hanger-wire sculpture Wind Blown at the suggestion of a patron . A Lovisa Burfitt sketch was used as the model. The facial features were cut from a microwave oven case and she is about 16" tall
I used a painting by Hu Chen for this piece. The cat is cut from a microwave case. The 'synthetic' bamboo leaves were cut from some ducting... I left the color pattern I used on the metal. I just scanned some foliage I had for the leaves. Hanger wire makes up the stone walk. Note... the wire needs some trimming. Chinese artists sign their work with a red seal...I just made this one up to add some authenticity. If you look closely, you can see I used some brush work to texture the cat fur... this paint artistry is new for me... The cat is about 13" tall & the work needs some fine tuning before being mounted permanently to the particle board back.

Shouldn't be any trouble recognizing this one. Fidel's beard is made from hanger wire. His cigar and hat are from some scrap sheet. His eyebrow, nose, chin and eye are cut from microwave oven sheet metal. If you look very closely at the burning end of the cigar, you might notice the smoke wisps. The wisps are some fibers from a yucca bush I ran over with my mower. This is the 7th piece I've done from a Ken Fallin drawing. The sculpture is about 16" tall.....

Cuba Libre!!!, you all.

Wanda is about 16"tall and is made from more of those old hangers and microwave oven metal. The black paint 'halo' and the strip down the side are a new thing for me.. The pattern I used had these black artifacts that were left when I cut off the color background with my photo software... I'm just not sure of their effectiveness..
